How It Works

From Loan Amount to Agreement: What Happens at Each Step

The safest process is branch-first: plan the amount, choose a current contact location, use the secure application page or contact that office if you need help, complete the current application, and review the actual disclosures before accepting a loan.

5-step process

This visual summarizes the detailed process below without replacing the original page content.

1Plan the amount

Tie the request to a real expense and funding gap.

2Choose a location

Select the current Alabama or Georgia office you want to work with.

3Submit the secure application

Provide the requested information through the current form.

4Application review

The branch reviews the information and any required verification.

5Read the agreement

Check actual amount, cost, schedule, total repayment and security terms before accepting.

Step 1 — Decide How Much You Want to Request

Start with the expense or bills, subtract funds already available, and use the uncovered amount as your starting figure.

Step 2 — Choose a Current Contact Location

Use the location directory. Call first if you need to confirm loan availability, current office hours, or whether that location handles the product you want.

Step 3 — Use the Secure Application or Contact a Branch

Columbus Finance materials describe branch-specific online forms, phone/in-person applications, and paper forms. This site does not reuse outdated form URLs. Use the application method currently provided by the branch.

Step 4 — Complete the Current Application

Be prepared for the lender to request information such as:

  • amount requested and purpose;
  • identity and contact information;
  • residence history;
  • employer, employment history, and income;
  • existing debts and other financial obligations;
  • bank or asset information where relevant;
  • joint-applicant information when applicable;
  • collateral/property information if the actual product is secured.

The current secure application and branch disclosures control what information is required.

Step 5 — Read the Credit and Privacy Authorization

Prior Columbus Finance credit forms authorized verification of credit and employment history. For a current application, read the consent presented to you. Do not assume a no-credit-check, soft-pull-only, or no-score-impact process unless the current disclosure says so.

Step 6 — Review the Actual Terms

Before accepting, confirm:

  • amount offered;
  • annual percentage rate and finance charge where applicable;
  • fees;
  • payment amount and frequency;
  • number of payments and total repayment;
  • due dates;
  • late-payment/default terms;
  • any collateral or security interest;
  • any optional products or services.

Step 7 — Keep a Follow-Up Route

Save the branch phone and the application/account reference you receive. If there is a service problem, use the Complaint Resolution route.

Lender Identity

Prior Columbus Finance credit documents identify Industrial Credit Corporation d/b/a Columbus Finance Company. The current application and disclosures should be used to confirm the lender identity and any legal or licensing information that applies to the transaction. The current application/disclosure should show the lender identity and any license information that applies to the transaction.
